Section 4.2 - Integration by Substitution
Finding the antiderivative of a function is as much an art as a science. In fact there are lots of functions that don't even have a 'closed form' antiderivative. There are however, some techniques you can use, that can help to find an antiderivative when one does exist.

Before we go any further into the specifics of integration and finding antiderivatives, we need to take a minute and go over some terminology such as definite integrals, families of antiderivatives and integrands. (lecture slides)
Finding antiderivatives is a trickier business than finding derivatives. We aren''t going to focus a lot on that here - it''s primarily a topic for Calculus 2. However, we will talk about one method here called "integration by substitution". (lecture slides)
In this lecture, we're going to look at some more complex integrals that can be evalulated using integration by substitution. (lecture slides)
