# Modeling

Where end behavior thinks about how the graph of a function is behaving at the edes of the graph, multipicity is a tool we'll use to think about what's going on in the middle section. Specifically, it tells us whether or not the graph crosses the x-axis at a root or if it just touches it then turns around.

If end behavior is our tool for determining what's going on at the edges of a graph, multiplicity is the tool that we'll use to figure out what's going on in the middle, specifically what the graph is doing at its x-intercepts. (lecture slides)
