White Crane Education

crane logoIn the early 17th century a samurai name Taira Shigesuke wrote a short book called Bushido Shoshinshu or Bushido for Beginners as an instruction manual for young samurai. Taira-san's book outlined the basic principles of bushido in a straight-forward, concrete manner. The essays in this section show how the principles outlined by Taira-san are as relevant to young people today as they were four hundred years ago.

Making Choices
Just like young people today, young samurai were faced with many difficult choices. How do you answer a difficult question without giving offense? How do you choose good friends who won't lead you into trouble.
Coming to an End
"All good things must come to an end." Sometimes they end well. Sometimes they don't. Taira-san offers advice on how to handle a relationship that's over.
