In the early 17th century a samurai name Taira Shigesuke wrote a short book called Bushido Shoshinshu or Bushido for Beginners as an instruction manual for young samurai. Taira-san's book outlined the basic principles of bushido in a straight-forward, concrete manner. The essays in this section show how the principles outlined by Taira-san are as relevant to young people today as they were four hundred years ago.
